Halo 3 Router Bridging - C&A + ZoneAlarm Pro

First off this is a cheating sub-forum, Halo 3 Modding which means if your looking here that's what your trying to do, CHEAT. So don't flame on people. Credit go to DJ Shepard, for finding the way to do it.

For starters:

1. You need an Xbox 360, Halo 3, Computer, Internet connection, controller, Xbox Live Gold Subscription, a router, and 3 ethernet cables. One cable going from modem to router. Another cable going from router to Xbox 360 and your computer.
2. Zone Alarm Pro, get it here (Premium Members Only). C&A (Cain and Abel) get it here.
3. Your gonna need a lot of patience and perseverance.

Tutorial time:

Cain portion of tutorial.

1. Open up Cain & Abel. Click the Sniffer tab at the top and make sure your on Hosts in the bottom left hand corner of the window. You should see something that looks like this:
2. Now click the Sniffer button located between the folder and the hazard symbol. It's on the left corner of the screen. The mouse is on it in the picture:
3. Now right click in excel looking boxes. Click Scan MAC Addresses:
4. Now this pop-up window should appear and make sure All hosts in my subnet is checked. Then click OK:
5. This window should appear after that and it should only take a few seconds. If not see the troubleshooting at the bottom of the thread.
6. Now some IP's and names should show up. THEY PROBABLY WON'T BE THE SAME AS YOURS. You should see Microsoft Corp, your router name/company. Maybe some others but those are the ones that are important:
7. Now in the bottom left hand corner select the hazard symbol/ APR tab:
8. Now make sure to get this right. Left click in the upper set of excel looking boxes (where the mouse was in the previous picture) then click the blue plus sign near the top left part of Cain:
9. Now this pop-up window should appear. On the left side click your routers IP. On the right side click your Xbox 360's IP:
10. After that it should look just like this: Look where the mouse is in this image. It should say Start/ Stop APR when you highlight over it like so and then click it. (It looks like the hazard button, its to the right of the Sniffer button.
11. IP's should start appearing in the lower set of excel looking boxes. If there's people in your party their IP will show up. Check with them to see whose IP's are whose. If no one's in your party you should still have IP's showing up so don't freak out.

Zone Alarm and C&A part of the tutorial

1. Open up Zone Alarm Pro and go to Firewall and click Main if not already there, it should look like this:
2. Now click Zones, it should look like this:
3. If there's anything besides your Network or whatever you named when you first installed it in there, click it and click Remove in the bottom right hand portion of the window.
4. Now if your Network is in Trusted you have to make it in the Internet zone. To do this click where it says Trusted and then click Internet. Like so:
5. After that in the bottom right corner of the screen click Add --> IP Range. It should look like this:
6. Make it Trusted. Then where it says IP Address on the top put 65.59.234.0 then on the bottom put 65.59.234.255 then name it Microsoft. Like so:
7. Repeat step 5. Make it Trusted. Then where it says IP Address on the top put 65.55.42.0 then on the bottom put 65.55.42.255 then name it Xbox Live 2. Like so:

2. Now it should look like this:

Now go over to Cain and find your friends IP and add that too, if you don't know what it is ask them or have them go make a new party and have them be the only one in the party and invite you only. The IP that's not theirs would be the ones that say 65.59.234.XXX or 65.55.42.XXX Then look at Cain and get it and go back over to Zone Alarm Pro and click Add--> IP Address. Make it Trusted and then type in their IP how it shows up in Cain. Name it whatever you like and click OK:

Now it should look like this:
After that click Main it will ask you if you would like to save changes, click Yes:
Now make it so Cain and Zone Alarm are both visable, you'll want to see where the IP's come in (lower set of excel looking boxes), you want to make sure where it says Half-routing/Full-routing is visible. Could look like this:
Join your friends party that you wish to give host if your not already there. You must be the first one to join. Now go over to Zone Alarm Pro and put your Internet Zone Security on High. Your Trusted Zone Security must either be Off or on Med:
If all goes according to plan you should still be in his party and you can hear him and the other people fine. If you don't have other people in your party now you can invite them. Have him start the game.
Now you need to PAY ATTENTION to your TV screen. When it gets to the Configuring Game step COUNT 1-2 SECONDS:



Then lower your Internet Zone Security down to Med and look at Cain. IP's should be pouring in the lower portion of the excel looking boxes. They should be Half-routing. When they are Full-routing put your firewall back up to High. It's easier to never have to click into Cain. That's why you want both programs to be visible but Zone Alarm Pro on top of other windows.
If everything goes good, your friend should be host :cheers2:.

Troubleshooting:

Q: I got to step 3, I lowered my firewall to medium, but when I raised it...

• A. Kicked us back.
• B. I lagged out.
• C. My friend didn't get host.

A: Well you either...

• A. Raised it too soon or too late, IP's weren't full routing, or you just flat out messed up something.
• B. You either messed up, or your friend is Host Banned, Cain & Abel shut down either on purpose or unexpectately
• C. Possibly Host Banned, he's not doing something right, something you did wrong when you were setting your programs up.

Q: I've got a lot of Game's Found but no Possible matches.


A: Look at the requirements, I remember putting patience as one of them.

Q: When I Scan for MAC Addresses it takes foreverrrrrrrr.


A: Stop the search and do this:

1. Go to the navigation bar. Find Configure. Click it and this pop-up window should appear:

2. Scroll to the right and select the one that has Ethernet in its name:

After that click Apply:



Now click OK:

Now try scanning again.

Q: I'm not getting any IP's when I click Start/Stop APR?


A: Click Start/Stop APR first of all to make it stop or if already stopped.

1. Right click the Idle connection (if not stopped it would say poisoning of which look above). Click Remove:
2. And then remove the ones in the Host tab, Remove All:
3. Go to step 1 of the Tutorial and start from there.
